Homes Located in Twin Oak Elementary School District

Just past Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Martinsburg road, you will find Twin Oak Elementary; a school serving around 400 kindergarten through fifth grade students. Built in 1958, Twin Oak Elementary was named to commemorate a historic tree where the local Native American population would gather before councils. Before being uprooted by a tornado in 1945, the legendary tree in Mount Vernon – two oaks grafted together – stood for generations, serving as a symbolic site for countless marriages. Students at Twin Oak Elementary learn to honor and appreciate history through the unique story of their own school. Parents are encouraged to get involved in their child’s education at Twin Oaks by joining the PTO or as a volunteer at school functions. Older students have the opportunity to play in the band or orchestra, and all students are invited to help with community service projects.
